Bald Eagle Coins

In 2008, the U.S. Mint issued the American Bald Eagle commemorative silver dollar and half dollar coins and gold five dollar coin, issued as part of the 2008 Bald Eagle Commemorative Coin Program were the following coins, the 2008 Bald Eagle $5 Gold Coin, 2008 Bald Eagle Silver Dollarand the 2008 Bald Eagle Half Dollar Clad Coin. The US Mint has struck each of these to both proof and uncirculated condition really giving a total of six different strikes produced as part of the series. The maximum mintages across all product options for these commemorative coins are limited to 100,000 for the $5 gold coin, 500,000 for the silver dollar, and 750,000 for the silver clad half dollar.

In 1782, the Second Continental Congress selected the Bald Eagle as the National Emblem of the United States and made it the centerpiece of the Great Seal of the United States.
