Lunar Horse Coin

Lunar Horse Coins (2014)

The Royal Mints Lunar coins lend a new British angle to ancient customs. The first legal tender lunar coin struck for the United Kingdom by The Royal Mintbegins an auspicious new series the (Shēngxiào Collection), which honours the Chinese zodiac. This first coin of the Shēngxiào Collection to be released is struck for the Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse. Wuon-Gean Ho, a British Chinese artist and printmaker, has created the design that combines a powerful horse paired with the famous Uffington Horse, an ancient white horse carved into the chalk hills of Oxfordshire. The obverse of this Britannia coin release is the Ian Rank-Broadley image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse of the coin features the Wuon-Gean Ho designed image of a Chinese Lunar Horse.

Each coin released has been minted from .999 fine silver in a proof finish, all coins minted and released will come in a mint case with certificate of authenticity.
